I love when we can create a portrait that has some special personal sentiment. For the McFadden Family, this meant going out to their river house in Crawfordville and photographing the family on the dock and in their boat. This is where the family spends their summers– out on the water enjoying Florida’s beauty. I think it was the perfect setting for their family portrait and will be a perfect portrait on the walls of the river house!

People think I am crazy, but I would much rather photograph a family with young kids than a family of all adults. With the kids, we get to play, be silly and laugh. Grownups are too worried about what they look like, what pose they are in, etc. Kids don’t care. They care that we are tickling them, blowing bubbles, singing songs, or just running wild. Yes, we sweat more with the kids, but its just so much more satisfying when you see the images! The LeParulos are an awesome example of this– Miss Gracie is a true wild girl, so we had a lot of games and silliness, but her beautiful smiles are so worth every second of our chaos!

Its always so cool to create a family’s first portrait– whether it is from a newborn session or when a family joins together through a wedding. In a way, this was both! Amber and Clay got married, combining their families into one and then came Baby Morgan, expanding that family even more! They are all so sweet and loving, you can absolutely tell it was fate that brought this family together!

Only one week old, little Miss Jhett is absolutely tiny! So beautiful and precious, she was such a snuggly sleeper through her portrait session! If only all my newborns were this easy to work with, life would be a breeze!

Its always funny to me to see how long it will take a child to warm up to us. They all have to check us out, take in the location and most of them just all the sudden decide everything is OK and then the smiles come by the truckload. Andrew was definitely this way. I think it took him 10 minutes, then he was all smiles and giggles! I wish all the kiddos warmed up this much this quickly!
